Our Home has recently undergone several renovations – new flowers planted this spring, fresh coats of paint now adorn our halls, and, of course, the construction of our new elevator is underway! But, what Residents might be looking forward to the most is the grand opening of the new and improved general store. Thanks to the help of our friends at Deloitte, our general store received a fresh coat of paint, wallpaper, and gorgeous sculptures of both a lovely wooden horse, as well as an adorable dog. Best of all, our maintenance team helped install a brand-new sign in the window displaying the name, “Horse and Hound General Store,” named after the lovely new art pieces on display.
With all of these changes, we thought the occasion should be celebrated by throwing a grand opening party! Before the grand opening ceremony, Residents snacked on hot soft pretzels with cheese and sipped on cool lemonade, while staff members passed out dollar off coupons to use in the store.
Resident Liz Funchion assisted Mother Margaret in cutting the opening day ribbon, officially opening the store and allowing Residents inside the store for the first time. And boy, were Residents ready to shop ‘til they drop! Once the doors were open, Residents hurried inside, excited to see what fun trinkets they could find.
From greeting cards to hair accessories to tasty treats like candy and soda, this shop has everything our Residents could want to treat themselves! We are so happy to have such a delightful, new and improved space our Residents can use to gather together, have a cold drink, and enjoy themselves a game of checkers.
