September has been a gorgeous month for weather in Chicago, with crisp air and blue skies—perfect for a ball game! Regardless if they are Cubs or Sox fans, our Residents gathered at Guaranteed Rate Field, expecting to see a major moment in sports history: the Sox setting the record for the most season losses in the history of modern professional baseball. On this day, for their final home game, the Sox did not set this ignominious record of losses. Instead, our Residents were delightfully surprised with an exciting victory as they watched the Sox win 7-0 against the visiting Los Angeles Angels. With great weather, classic stadium hot dogs, and a clear view over home plate, no one could have asked for a more perfect outing.
The Sox would go on to Detroit the next the day to play the Tigers and lose, so setting the record for the most losses in a season. Well, as fans for the Sox—and for the Cubs—can say: There’s always next year!
