As we trudge our way into the bitter cold of winter, we can always count on one thing to keep us warm—holiday spirit! And that is something St. Mary’s Home is full of abundantly this month. From gift exchanges to holiday performances, our Residents schedules have been jam packed! But nothing is looked forward to more by our Residents than our annual Christmas Dinner. Every Christmas season, Residents can attend a fun-filled, magical night of dressing snazzy, delicious dinner, and shimmying and swaying along to classic holiday tunes. This year was no exception!
Accompanied by the stylings of pianist Matt Griffo, who set the night’s mood playing ambient Christmas classics, Residents began the start of their festive evening being escorted into the main dining room. Dressed in their very best, Volunteers from Our Lady of Mount Carmel walked with Residents arm and arm towards the Christmas tree and cheerfully posed for a picture!
After being escorted to their seats, a roaming bar cart made its way around to each Resident, offering hand-crafted, holiday themed cocktails and mocktails. Soon after came the meal and, with options like shrimp cocktail, dutchess potato with haricort vert, and bouche de Noelle with crème anglaise, it was sure to dazzle our Residents’ taste buds.
Finally, what good would a Christmas party be without a visit from Santa? As Residents finished up their decadent desserts, Santa joined Residents at each and every table to pass out candy canes, take photos, and spread Christmas cheer!
As we reflect on this magical night, let us not forget the importance of friendship, community, and spreading the love of Christ through all of us. We are so happy to have had the chance to see this through the joy and love we see in our St. Mary’s Home Residents, staff, Sisters and friends who all helped make this night one for the books. From all of us at St. Mary’s, we hope you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas. May your new year be joyful and healthy, filled with opportunities, adventures, and cherished moments!
