We are so lucky at St. Mary’s to have volunteers from all walks of life. And sometimes those volunteers come on four legs! Meet Gracie: a therapy dog with Healing Hearts. Healing Hearts raises and trains facility dogs and comfort dogs to interact with individuals who are experiencing trauma, stress, and physical and emotional uncertainty in their lives. This organization’s mission is to “enrich the lives of others by providing hope and healing through the compassion of canine companions.”
Accompanied by her mom and handler, Heather, Gracie blesses our Home by livening the spirits of our Residents, and is always a welcome sight when someone is having a “ruff” day. Gracie is celebrating her 9th birthday, and, as a thank you for all she has done for us, she was given a celebratory “champagne bottle” squeaky toy, plenty of treats, and lots of love.

Thank you to both Gracie and Heather for bringing such wonderful energy and compassion into our Home!
