In Ireland, folks say that “to be Irish is to be lucky enough!” However, that doesn’t mean that we aren’t just as lucky to have spent St. Patrick’s Day with our beloved Residents! Dressed in their best green outfits, our Residents gathered in our auditorium to snack on Irish soda bread, Green River soda — a Chicago staple! — and laugh together over the sounds of traditional Celtic music.
Resident Janette Satterlee looked especially fantastic wearing her homemade crochet leprechaun hat! To broaden the Residents’ smiles, Sister Bernadette took to the stage to invite staff members to do their best Irish jig. Laughter was heard from every corner of the room as Residents clapped and swayed along in their seats. Residents Peggy O’Leary and Frances Connelly, who each have Emerald Isle ancestry, came to the front to lead the room in a few traditional Irish tunes that livened everyone’s spirits.
We hope you had a magical St. Patrick’s Day, filled with a pot of gold and all the joy your heart could hold! Erin go Bragh! (Ireland Forever!)
